based on these facts
The main person on this page - GEORGE PACE
Through the investigation of many previous generations and confirming with other PACE family researchers
Kathryn Jones of Walsall, West Midlands, UK and Adrian Fenton of Pennsylvania in the US, both of whom had got back through many generations of PACE marriages to a GEORGE PACE. The origin of this GEORGE PACE was unknown, at that point. I set out and found GEORGE's Christening at PREES, Shropshire in 1670 at St. Chads Church. His father was shown in the parish register as JOSEPH PACE, no mother was given. In a nearby church, at WROCKWARDINE, five years earlier, in 1665, I found the Christening of a JOHN PACE, father JOSEPH PACE, mother MARGARET. Since I searched all the near-by church parish records I could find in the IGI, I figured this couple were likely GEORGE's parents too. Further searching of near-by church records, I found a MARRIAGE record for JOSEPH and MARGARET at near-by HIGH ERCALL. Getting back to GEORGE, his first child was named MARGARET, which would correspond with GEORGE's mother also being a MARGARET. With this KNOWLEDGE, and searching several near-by parish records on the IGI, I feel safe to assume GEORGE's parents were this JOSEPH and MARGARET and that JOHN - 1665 was his brother. These family goings-on were all in near-by Shropshire parishes of PREES, WROCKWARDINE and HIGH ERCALL. I felt it was safe to assume - this was the family that I descend from.I am satisfied with this assumption. It's apparent - to me, I descend from

for Christenings, JOSEPH and JOSHUA in PACE families of north Shropshire parishes - on the LDS site to see if I could find a Joseph or Joshua and came up with:-Since at PREES
- JOSUAH PACE
Christening: 07 JUN 1618
PREES, Shropshire
Father: ROWLAND PACEIt's likely
- GEORGE was Christened there in 1670 - and this
- JOSUAH was Christened there in 1618
GEORGE and JOSUAH are from the same PACE family. They were both Christened in the same church but because of this name variation, Joshua - Joseph, this needs to be critically considered - In a later generation of this PACE family, the same JOSEPH - JOSHUA situation occured. Perhaps, since these are Biblical given names, there is a reason for this. In this case, I will believe GEORGE's father JOSEPH and Margaret's spouse JOSHUA are the same person. In JOHN's 1665 Christening, parents were clearly JOSEPH and MARGARET. In the 1653 marriage, it was MARGARET and JOSHUAH
In conclusion
After finding this info and thinking about it - I feel that the two names refer to the same ancestor, a son of the ROWLAND PACE. I'll assume, the priest or church warden who wrote in the records, mixed the names.
This 1618 name, in the records, is rather obscure. The first letter is a J, last letter looks like an H but in between is unclear.
- the names JOSEPH and JOSHUA
In both Christening at Prees and marriage at High Ercall (Ercall Magna) to MARGARET PALMER, the name appears as JOSUAH in the parish records for Christening then JOSHUAH for marriage.
What seems to tie things together
Christenings of children
FATHER's name appears as JOSEPH - This name change also happened a few generations later - So, I ask you to form your own conception of these facts - since I made an extensive study of all available LDS parish records of north Shropshire - I conclude that Joshua and Joseph are the same person. As I said - the same name change JOSEPH-JOSHUA occured a few generations later. These are the facts I found; I'm not 100% convinced.

In their childrens' Christenings, the father's name appears as JOSEPH: In the Father's Christening and marriage - the name appears as JOSHUA
NOTE the father's name varies in Christenings at nearby parish recordsIn a study of several north Shropshire local parish registers I was looking for Christenings with a father JOSEPH PACE, and came up with evidence that GEORGE PACE Chr. 1670 at PREES appeared having a brother

WELLINGTON being the local MARKET TOWN.
JOHN PACE Chr. 1665 - appears likely to have been the JOHN PACE who showed up in COLONIAL VIRGINIA - bought land 1693 and had family with same given names of his children as GEORGE, back in England, who looks to have been his brother.
AT THIS POINT - I refer to ROY JOHNSON's main objective of the PACE DNA study ".....to settle the question of the ancestry of JOHN PACE - Middlesex Co. VA. of the latter 1600s"
SEE DNA RESULTS - PACE SOCIETY.org site
My DNA test results #8033This DNA match indicates
- matched descendants, in the USA, of
JOHN PACE of Middlesex County, Virginia.- I was born in England,
my ancestry goes back through- GEORGE PACE Chr 1670 St.Chad's Church, Prees
- apparent brother of JOHN PACE Chr. 1665
JOHN PACE came from the same family in the latter 1600s and the parish register at Wrockwardine, Shropshire showed a JOHN PACE Christened in 1665.
The mother of JOHN and GEORGE appears as
MARGARET PALMER from Wellington, ShropshireWith such evidence,
- In Christ Church records, Middlesex County, Virginia appear PALMER and "BLAZEDON".
- In Wellington, Shropshire parish records appear PALMER and BLADEN Christenings, marriages.
- Other surnames from Shropshire parishes where PACE family was found were also found in colonial Virginia parishes where PACE families were.
the origin in England of JOHN PACE of Middlesex County, Virginia seems to be indicated.
GEORGE PACE
Chr 1670 Prees apparently migrated - showed up in NORBURY, Staffordshire in a 1693 marriage record
- Mary Elizabetha COTTERELL - and then some Christenings- about 10 days after Christening of son GEORGE Chr 5 Apr 1708 RANTON, Staffordshire.
- - GEORGE and MARY went on to RANTON
where Mary died, 15 Apr 1708- Later, the same year 1708
- GEORGE married ELIZABETH PICKEN 30 Dec 1708 Ranton- son JOSEPH PACE recorded PASTE - my 5X great grandfather - was Christened 10 Sep 1709 Ranton, Staffordshire - after which they moved on, showing up in parish records at SHARESHILL, Staffordshire Two deaths of GEORGE PACE are recorded at Shareshill in the 1740s - These would likely be father and son George. My aunt Marion Pace told me, before I became interested in our family history, that her father and our ancestors came from a place called LANEY GREEN in Staffordshire, near WALSALL, and that is where PACE descendants live today and run HOLLY's FARM MARKET on a farm that's probably been in the PACE family for many generations. This is near the WHEATSHEAF Public House. I visited these descendants, my cousins, Ann and Terry Murphy in 2005. We went for dinner at the Littleton Arms Pub in nearby Penkridge
On a previous trip to England - I met my cousins Janet Anderson nee Pace and her sister Kathryn Jones, their parents, John Pace of Huntington near Cannock Wood, and their uncle Ron Pace of Brownhills.
Cousin Janet had been to a college in Ann Arbour, Michigan - was informed about Roy Johnson's PACE NETWORK and posted her message which I discovered and replied to and the ball started rolling, so to say.

seemed to disappear from Staffordshire records
and from knowledge of present day researchers of BARNETT family history that I've been able to contact.
Was emigration a factor,
why this BARNETT family seemed to disappear from Staffordshire?
SURPRISING INTEREST -
(.....may or may not mean anything)
I've communicated with a researcher, saying he descends from PACES of Cole County, Missouri and BURNETT ancestors.
ORIGINS of the PACE LINE of Cole County, Missouri
go back a few generations to JOHN PACE of Middlesex County, Virginia, now thought same JOHN PACE Christened in 1665 at St. Peters Church, Wrockwardine, Shropshire and brother of GEORGE PACE, father of the MARY who married RICHARD BARNETTIt is remotely possible, this researcher
who says he descends from this
PACE line of COLE COUNTY, MISSOURI and a
BURNETT family of tidewater NORTH CAROLINA
THESE FACTS MAY INDICATE
his BURNETT ancestors were possibly from the PACE - BARNETT family MENTIONED ABOVE that seemed to disappear from Staffordshire records.
MARY PACE (daughter of GEORGE PACE - my 6X great grandfather) would be a neice of JOHN PACE Chr. 1665 Wrockwardine If our research and thinking, are correct.
Perhaps the above BARNETT-PACE family of RANTON, STAFFORDSHIRE did emigrate to colonial Virginia and then North Carolina.
It's interesting that PACE and BURNETT (notice spelling variant) had shown up in colonial Virginia, North Carolina and being researched by a descendant of JOHN PACE of Middlesex County, Virginia through PACE family of COLE County, Missouri
- they seemed to disappear from Staffordshire. records

Many deaths occurred in the family - I tried to learn if there was an epidemic around 1760s.
- In JOSEPH's 2nd marriage, his PACE family moved to BILSTON,
which is near to WEDNESBURY where your JOHN PACE was born 1794.- His parents, JOHN & CATHERINE also had Christenings at BILSTON.
- This JOHN PACE who married a CATHERINE (Elizabeth) appears as brother of WILLIAM PACE 1765-1811 - my 3X great grandfather - It's making sence. This JOHN must have followed his father JOSEPH PACE b 1735 (my 4th great grandfather) to the BILSTON - WEDNESBURY area of Staffordshire (West Midlands today) and carried on life there; not a great distance actually, maybe 10 miles. I previously knew nothing of JOHN PACE. brother of WILLIAM PACE b 1765-1811 - my 3X gg/f - until I read your posting.

It happened in Kielce on the 20th of March 1831 at 8 AM. 40 years old Wilhelm Precher, mechanic and 40 years old Eliasz Kisielewski, inspector, both living in Bialogon village, appeared in front of me and stated, that on the 18th of March at 8 PM, in that village, 43 years old John Pace, husband of Marianna, father of Jozef and Matylda, has died. After making sure about John's death personally, this document was read to the present, and signed together with them.

Hello Gordon
I'm looking any information on Waldemar Pace (Founes-Pace) son of Karol Alfred and Berta Elzbieta (Elisabeth) Holtz, he was born in Warsaw-Poland September 21, 1888, died april 1978? in Sandy Springs Montgomery, Maryland. He arrived to USA on August 1908.

I posted on the PACE ROOTSWEB mailing list and several PACE researchers took interest so here is some response:
Hope this helps some,
- Jacek,
I found this information on the free www.ellisisland.org web site:They also have a digital image of the passenger manifest and the ship.
- First Name: Waldemar
- Last Name: Pace
- Ethnicity: Austrian, German
- Last Place of Residence: Warschau, Russia
- Date of Arrival: Aug 06, 1908
- Age at Arrival: 20y Gender: M Marital Status: S
- Ship of Travel: Pretoria
- Port of Departure: Cuxhaven
- Manifest Line Number: 0005
The passenger manifest will usually give more information. Be sure and check the whole manifest. Sometimes the pages get out of order when they are filmed/digitized. For this time period, there are usually 2 pages. There should be a page with the passenger's names and the other page has destination and where they came from or were born.
Also, another area to check is to see if a "Declaration for Intent for Naturalization" was filed. This usually happened the minute they landed or when they reached their destination. So be sure to check to see to see if he has one. These declarations are usually located in the county courthouses during this time period. Later on, you can check and see if he received Naturalization. That is usually located in the county courthouse too.
Another area to check is to request a copy of his Social Security Application. This is a bit more expensive to do. Before that, I would check the 1910, 1920, & 1930 census records.
I checked Ancestry.com for the 1910 census and I believe I found him in Alliance City, Lexington Township, Stark County, Ohio. He is listed as "Wilbur" Pace. He is the right age, 29. He says he is from Russia/Poland and he is a machinist. This corresponds with his family's history of working with machines and mechanics. He is a "roomer" at 805 Patterson St. along with many others.
I could not immediately find him in the 1920 or 1930 census. I did find him in the Social Security Death Index and it said he received or applied for his Social Security Number while he was living in Michigan around 1951.
