UK sites

Census records don't exist pre 1821 and are only of genealogical value from 1841 onwards. They were taken every ten years. Before the start of civil registration - 1837 ....PARISH REGISTERS - [PRs] - were the key source for records of life events - (baptisms, burials and marriages). From 1538 the Church of England kept records of baptisms, marriages and burials in parish registers. They are generally held by COUNTY RECORD OFFICES - [CRO] - and other local archives.
